batik history

 History of batik in Indonesia is closely linked with the development of the Majapahit empire and the spread of Islam in Java. But there are a few notes, which mention the development of batik is mostly done in times of Mataram kingdom, then in the kingdom of Solo and Yogyakarta.

So this batik art in Indonesia has been known since the time of the Majapahit empire continues to grow and to royal and subsequent kings. Batik art is growing in Indonesia, particularly the Javanese in the late eighteenth century or early nineteenth century.


Batik technique itself has been known more than one decade (millennium) and probably came from ancient Egypt or Sumeria and developed in several West African countries like Nigeria, Cameroon and Mali, or in Asia, like India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Iran, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Batik is produced at the time was up early batik twentieth century and the new batik recognized after the First World War which ended around 1920.

 
Batik is the art of drawing on the fabric for clothing that was one of the kings family culture of Indonesia in ancient times. Initially batik making only limited activity within the scope of the court alone and produced for the king's clothing and family and his superiors. But many of the princes who lived outside the palace, the art of batik was brought by them out of the palace and are produced in place of each.

In development, the art of batik was imitated by the masses and subsequently expanded to become the work of women in their households to spend leisure time. Coloring materials are often used consists of plants native to Indonesia that is made between the other from the noni tree, soga and indigo, while the material is made from soda ash soda and salt are made of mud.
