Imogiri Royal Cemetery

Imogiri actual tomb is the Tomb Hastarengga and situated on a beautiful hill about 17 km south of Yogyakarta, and was built in 1645 by Sultan Agung and age younger than the tomb Kotagede.

In this Imogiri tomb, buried kings who ruled the kingdom of Mataram after the death of Panembahan Senopati, especially the son of Sultan Agung Hanyokro Kusumo. This tomb was built on a hill, and to achieve it we must climb the stairs of stone terraces as much as 345 pieces. Visitors must wear traditional Javanese clothes. Men should wear black or dark blue striated and not allowed to wear a keris (traditional dagger), and women should wear a tank top, which is provided by the courtiers (the tomb guards) with little cost. There is a myth that if a visitor can count the number of steps correctly, all his wishes will be granted.
