Kotagede Royal Cemetery

Kota Gede is an old town located in the south of Yogyakarta


But actually this tomb called the Tomb of Sapto Renggo, but most people refer to as a tomb Kotagede Yogyakarta, according to the name of this area. In the 16th century became the capital of the Islamic Mataram kingdom, and Panembahan Senopati who became the first king. Inside the cemetery there are graves Mataram sultans and their families, amounting to 81 graves and has two large banyan trees that guard the entrance to the complex, which also contained an ancient mosque and two ponds.  

To enter the tomb, visitors are asked to wear traditional Javanese clothes provided by the courtiers (the tomb guards) with little cost.
