Puro Pakualaman

This palace is the "Palace of the two" Jogja, Puro Pakualam located between Progo and Bogowonto River, about 2 km east of the palace and the extent of 5400 sq. m

          In 1812, in an effort to stabilize the insurgency in Central Java and counterbalance the power of the lane I, British Lieutenant-Governor-General Sir Thomas Raffles created the kingdom of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta and given to one of the Sultan's son, Prince Notokusumo. Prince Notokusumo be Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Arya (KGPAA) Paku Alam I, and the palace is called Puro Pakualaman which was completed on March 17, 1813. And now the official residence of Prince Paku Alam IX and family.      
    
          Puro Pakualam is a magnificent palace, the palace was designed by KGPAA Paku Alam I, which is also an expert in culture and literature. Puro Pakualam is a cultural center of Java, gamelan and dance instruction are held weekly. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful architecture, museums, royal heirlooms and heritage, sacred ancestral culture, traditions and way of life in the kingdom of Mataram.
